어제, 3월 3일 캐나다 연방 정부는 이민 컨설턴트 단속을 강화한다고 발표하였습니다.

캐나다 정부는 이민을 준비하는 사람들을 보호하기 위해, CSIC 정회원 멤버와 이민법 전문 변호사 만 컨설팅 및 서류검토의 수수료를 부과할 수 있다는 내용을 법으로 명시하고 있지만, 연방 정부가 직접 유령 에이전트를 단속하겠다고 발표한 것은이번이 처음입니다.

이민뿐 아니라, 직업을 소개해주거나 고용주를 연결해서 Job Offer를 받는 것에 수수료나 금액을 부과하는 것, 100% 이민을보장한다는 내용의 상담 등, 유령 에이전트의 횡포 사례가 많이 거론되어 왔으며, 이번 정부의 발표를 통해 이민을 준비하는분들의 피해가 줄어들 것으로 전망됩니다.

Federal government announces ghost agent crackdown in Speech from the Throne / Le gouvernement fédéral annonce qu’il entend s’attaquer au problème des agents fantômes

Yesterday, the Governor General of Canada announced the Federal government’s intent to “shut down unscrupulous immigration consultants” during the Speech from the Throne.

The announcement comes just one month after CSIC released detailed recommendations to the government on the ghost agent issue as part of National Immigrant Protection Day.

CSIC will continue to work with the government to develop an effective plan to tackle the ghost agent problem.
