The Ant and the Dove
An ant went to a fountain to quench his thirst, and tumbling in, was almost drowned. But Dove that happened to be sitting on a neighboring tree saw the Ant's danger, and plucking off a leaf, let it drop into the water before him, and the Ant mounting upon it, was presently wafted safe ashore.
Just at that time, a Fowler was spreading his net, and was in the act of ensnaring the Dove, when the Ant, perceiving his object, bit his heel. he start which the man gace made him drop his net, and the Dove, aroused to a sense of her danger, flew safe away.

개미와 비둘기
갈증을 풀려고 샘터 곁으로 갔는데 굴러 떨어져 익사하게 되었다. 그런데 때마침 옆의 나무에 앉아 있던 비둘기가 개미의 위험함을 보고, 나뭇잎 하나를 따서 그것을 개미 앞에 떨어뜨려 주어서, 개미는 그 위에 올라타고 무사히 기슭에 닿았다.
마침 그때 새를 잡는 사나이가 그 그물을 펼치고 있고, 비둘기를 그 그물에다 잡으려고 하는 중이었는데, 그때 개미는 그 사나이의 목적을 알아차리고 그 발을 깨물었다. 사나이는 놀라서 펄쩍 뛰었으므로, 그물을 떨구고, 비둘기는 자기 몸의 위험을 깨닫고 무사히 날아가 버렸다.
