2010년 6월26일 새로운 캐나다 이민법 개정이 있었습니다.

연방 기술(독립)이민을 29개 직종에 한하며 또한 직종별로 2010년 6월 26일 부터 2011년 6월 30일까지 최대 2만 명의 연방 기술이민자를 받아 들인다는 골자로 하는 개정이었습니다.

또한 직종별로 한직종당 최대 1000명의 이민자만을 받아들이며 기한내에 쿼터가 차면 신청서를 돌려 보낸다고 발표했습니다.

오늘은 발표 후 10월 19일까지 독립이민 현황에 대해 안내해 드리겠습니다. 직종별 쿼터에는 노동청에서 허가를 받은 잡오퍼나 워크 퍼밋은 포함 제외된 수치입니다.

발표 당시에는 직업별 쿼터가 단시간 마감될 것으로 예상했으나 이민부 보고서에 따르면  예상외로 신청서가 많지 않은 것으로 판단됩니다. 아마도 고용제안(Job Offer) 없이 독립이민 신청 가능 점수인 67점을 넘기는 것이 힘들기 때문인 것으로 보입니다.

이민부는 2010년 10월 19일 현재 20,000명의 쿼터중 2,226 신청서를 접수 했으며 직종별 신청자는 아래와 같습니다.
