Planet Earth is believed by many scientists to be About 4,600,000,000(four billion, six hundred million) years old.

많은 과학자들은 지구라는 행성은(행성인 지구는) 생긴지 약 46억 년이라고 믿고 있다. 

To make it easier to understand, let's compare the Earth to a person of 46 Years of age.

이해를 쉽게 하기 위해 지구를 46세 된 사람에 비유해 보자. 

Nothing is known about the first seven years of this person's life.

이 사람의 삶 중에서 처음의 7년에 대해서는 알려진 게 전혀 없다. 

Only a little is known about the middle years.

중년에 대해서만 약간 알려져 있을 뿐이다. 

We do Know that our person called Earth began to flower only at the age of 42.

지구라는 이름의 그 사람은 42세의 나이에  꽃을 피우기 사작했음은 우리가 잘 알고 있다.

Dinosaurs and the great reptiles did not appear until a yaer ago, when the planet was 45.

그 행성이 45살이었을 때 (그) 1년 전까지만 해도 공룡과 거대 파충류들은 출현하지  않았다.

Mammals arrived only eight months ago.

포유류는 겨우 8개월 전에 등장했을 뿐이다. 

The theory of evolution states that human-like apes evolved into ape-like humans in the middle of last week, and last weekend, the last ice age covered the Earth.

진화론은 유인원들이 지난 주 중간쯤에 원숭이를 닮은 인간(유원인??)으로 진화했고 지난 주말에는 마지막 빙하기가 지구를 덮었다고  말하고 있다.

Modern humans have been around for last four hours.

현대인들은 지난 몇 시간 정도 존재해 오고 있다.
