"Were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I would not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter."

So wrote Thomas Jefferson to a friend in January 1787.

In fact, the newspaper is the easiest method to educate the masses on issues that are needed to be addressed, while making such announcements far easier to comprehend. Though the newspaper met harsh opposition during its infant stages of development, it has become an important part of modern society. The newspaper also acts as a watch dog on democracy making sure that the government is run in a fair and just manner .







A typical morning in the big cities begins like this. At seven o'clock, electronic music roars up and down the narrow streets to welcome the children to school. This is followed by announcements by loudspeakers in the streets telling residents to think about the coming elections. Next come electronic wails from the local vendor of sweet potatoes, seeking customers, and finally, a deafening jingle from the waste-paper collector's van. Also there are some announcements that are used to spur people on to good behavior.For example, the subway trains remind passengers not to stand too close to the edge of the platform. When people arrive at their office buildings, they find no relief there, either. In " intelligent buildings," where most things are computerized, even the elevators talk to their passengers.
