최후의 부정(모순)

An issue which bedevils the whole question of technical history is the fact that if we are collecting data about failures, it must be because we are not preventing them.

기술적인역사의 모든 질문들에 있었던 이슈는, 실패에 관한 정보를 모아야 하나 말아야 하나였다. 그 실패에 관한 정보는 모아져야 했다. 우리는 그것들을 예방해야 하기 떄문이다.

The implications of this are summed up most succinctly by Resniloff (1978) in the following statement:

정보의획득은 정권유지에 가장중요하게 생각되었다.

information about critical failures - is in principle unacceptable and is evidence of the failure of the maintenance program.

중요한 실패에 관한 정보는 받아들일수 없는 원칙에 있었고. 프로그램을 유지하는데 실패했다는 증거였다.

This is because critical failures entail potential (in some cases, certain) loss of life, but there is no rate of loss of life which is acceptable to (any) organization as the price of failure information to be used for designing a maintenance policy.

이것은 왜냐하면 중요한 실패는 어떤경우에는 인생의 상실을 수반하고 있다. 그러나 정권유지에 사용되는 실패에 관한 정보의 가치로서 어떻기관에게 받아들여지는 삶의 상실과는 관련이 없다.

Thus the maintenance policy designer is faced with the problem of creating a maintenance system for which the expected loss of life will be less than one over the planned operational lifetime of the asset.

그러므로 일생의 중요한 계획을 끝내기보다 조금의 상실로 시스템을 유지하기 위한 문제에 정권 유지자들은 직면해야 한다.

This means that, both in practice and in principle, the policy must be designed without using experiential data which will arise from the failures which the policy is meant to avoid."

이것은 원리와 원칙양쪽 측면에서 의미한다. 실패로부터 기인한 경험적 데이타 없이 디자인된 정책은 거부된다는 것이다.
