He Smuggled Donkeys!


There was once a clever old smuggler.

ONe day, he came to the border with a donkey.The donkey had many bundles of straw.

The official at the border felt suspicious about him The official wnanted to see inside the bundles.

So he pulled apart the man`s bundles.

There, however, was nothing valuable in the straw.

The official said, "I`ll let you pass. But I`m sure smuggling something.

I will certainly find it some day." The smuggler kept crossing the border.

Each day for ten years, the man came to the border with a donkey. Although the official searched the straw bundles on the donkey`s back, he coud never find anything valuable in them.

Many years later, after the official had retired, he happened to meet the smuggler in a marketplace. He said, "Please tell me, I beg you. What were you smuggling? Tell me ,please." The old smuggler grinned and said, "Donkeys!"


그는 당나귀를 밀수입했다.

한번은 나이많은 영리한 밀수업자가 있었다.

하루는 당나귀를 데리고 국경 근처로 갔다. 그 낭나귀는 많은 다발의 짚단을 운반하고 있었다.

국경 감시원은 그가 수상쩍다고 생각했고, 그 짚단의 내부를 보고 싶어했다.

그래서 그 짚단 다발을 풀어헤였다.

그치만 그 안에 딱히 값나가는 건 없었다.

감시원이 말하기를 '일단 통과하도록 해주겠다. 그치만 넌 뭔가 밀수를 하고 있다고 난 확신해.

그게 뭔지 언젠가 확실히 밝혀낼꺼야." 그 밀수업자는 계속해서 국경을 넘었다.

그남자는 10년간 매일 단나귀와 함께 국경에 왔다. 그 감시원은 당나귀 등의 짚단을 뒤졌지만 그 안에서 어떤 값나가는 것을 발견할 수 없었다.

많은 해가 지나고 그 감시원은 은퇴한 후에 시장에서 그 밀수업자를 만났다. 그리고는 말했다. " 제발 말해주게, 부탁이네.... 대체 뭔 밀수하고 있었다. 제발 말해줘." 그 나이 많은 밀수 없다는 싱긋 웃으며 말했다. " 그건 바로 당나귀요"
